How the Second Exam Changed the Results

2026 was the first year of two Class 10 board exams. According to CBSE's press release of 18 July 2026, 5,13,955 students took the second exam to improve their marks and 3,08,095 of them (59.95%) did better than in the main exam. Another 1,49,822 students took it in the Compartment category, and 52.40% passed. The overall pass percentage after combining both exams was 96.78%. Read more in our two-exam system guide.

How to Check Your Result

  1. Go to results.cbse.nic.in, cbse.gov.in or DigiLocker (results.digilocker.gov.in).
  2. Enter your roll number and the other details asked for (such as school number, date of birth or admit card ID).
  3. Submit — your subject-wise marks and grades appear.
  4. Download your digital marksheet from DigiLocker — it is a valid document for admissions. Printed marksheets come through your school.

What Your Marksheet Shows

  • Marks in each subject — theory, internal assessment and total.
  • A positional grade for each subject (A1 for the top 1/8th of students who passed, down to D2; E means Essential Repeat).
  • No aggregate percentage or CGPA — CBSE does not declare one. See our grading system guide.

What to Do After Results

  • Save your DigiLocker marksheet — you will need it for Class 11 admission.
  • Check a surprising mark — get the scanned copy of your answer book first, then decide whether to apply for verification or re-evaluation.
  • Choose your Class 11 stream — see our stream selection guide.
  • If disappointed — one exam does not define your future. Many paths lead to success.
