CBSE does allow re-evaluation of individual questions, but only after you have obtained the scanned copy of your answer book. In 2026, Class 12 students paid ₹100 per subject for the scanned copy, then ₹100 per answer book for 'verification of issues observed' and/or ₹25 per question for re-evaluation. Each re-evaluated answer book was checked by two evaluators, and fees were refunded if marks went up.

You can apply for step 2, step 3 or both, but only after getting the scanned copy in step 1.

How to Apply — Step by Step
- Watch cbse.gov.in for the post-result notice after your result
- Open CBSE's post-result services portal during the scanned-copy window
- Log in with the details asked for (such as roll number and date of birth)
- Select the subjects and pay the fee online
- Download and study your scanned copy alongside the official marking scheme
- In the next window, apply for verification and/or re-evaluation of specific questions
- Check the outcome on the portal; a revised marksheet is issued if marks change

What to Look For in the Scanned Copy
- Unevaluated answers: an answer with no marks next to it, or a page that was skipped.
- Missing or blurred pages: pages that don't appear, or can't be read, in the scan.
- Totalling or posting errors: add up the question-wise marks yourself and compare.
- Pages that aren't yours: handwriting or answers that belong to a different answer book.
- Marking scheme comparison: compare your answers with the official marking scheme on cbseacademic.nic.in. Where you believe a step deserved marks, that question is a candidate for re-evaluation.
