244 universities used CUET (UG) 2026 scores, including all 48 central universities (Delhi University, JNU, BHU, Jamia and more). Here are the main central universities, how the biggest ones use CUET, and what DU's top colleges needed in 2026.

State, Deemed & Private Universities Accepting CUET

Beyond the central universities, many state, deemed and private universities also accept CUET (UG) scores — 244 universities in all used the 2026 scores. The list changes every year, so check the participating universities list on cuet.nta.nic.in, and confirm on each university's own website whether your programme admits through CUET or through its own test.

How to Choose the Right University

  1. Check NIRF ranking for your specific course, not just overall university ranking.
  2. Central universities usually charge much lower fees than private universities, with good education quality and degree recognition — but fees vary by course and college, so check each fee structure.
  3. Location affects career opportunities. Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, and Pune offer better internship and job access.
  4. Hostel availability matters. Hostel places are limited at many universities — check availability and rules before you commit.
  5. Check placement data for professional courses (B.Com., BBA, BCA). For B.A./B.Sc., focus on PG preparation quality instead.
  6. Apply to 8–10 universities. Since one set of CUET scores works for all, applying to multiple universities increases your chances of getting your preferred course.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many universities accept CUET scores?

244 universities used CUET (UG) 2026 scores, according to NTA — all 48 central universities plus state, deemed and private universities. The list of participating universities changes every year and is published on cuet.nta.nic.in. Major central universities include Delhi University, JNU, BHU, Jamia Millia Islamia, Aligarh Muslim University, University of Hyderabad and Tezpur University.

For ranking, yes: DU admits students to its regular UG programmes on CUET scores through its Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS), and Class 12 marks decide only eligibility. You need CUET scores in the programme's subject combination — for most B.A. and B.Com programmes, one language + three domain subjects; some programmes use the General Aptitude Test; B.Sc. (Hons) Physics uses Physics + Chemistry + Mathematics. You must also register on CSAS after the result.

At DU, merit is the total of your CUET scores in the programme's combination, usually out of 1,000 (4 tests × 250). In the first allocation round of 2026, the minimum allocation scores for the unreserved category included 924.30 for SRCC B.Com (Hons), 958.71 for Hindu College B.A. (Hons) Political Science and 938.09 for Lady Shri Ram College B.A. (Hons) Psychology. Scores vary by programme, college, category and round. For JNU, BHU and other universities, check their own previous-year merit data — there is no common cut-off scale.

Yes. One set of CUET (UG) scores can be used by every participating university in that admission year — you do not need to take separate exams for them. However, each university has its own admission portal and application process, so you must apply separately to each one using your CUET score card. Some universities may also have additional criteria for certain courses.

CUET covers undergraduate programmes such as B.A., B.Sc., B.Com., management degrees like BMS, journalism, social work, and integrated law (BA LLB) at some universities. Engineering (B.Tech) and medical (MBBS) admissions mostly go through JEE and NEET, though a few programmes are exceptions — for example, DU's B.Tech in Information Technology and Mathematical Innovations is in its CUET-based CSAS list.

The UGC moved central universities to CUET for undergraduate admissions from 2022, and all 48 central universities are part of CUET (UG). But practice varies: DU admits to its regular UG programmes on CUET scores, while Jamia and AMU still use their own entrance tests for part of their programmes. Some programmes (such as performing arts or fine arts) may also have extra requirements — check each university's prospectus.
