How to Prepare for NEET + Board Exams Together — Smart Strategy

Much of what you study for the Class 12 boards is also NEET syllabus, which makes dual preparation highly efficient. Biology NCERT is the single most important resource for BOTH exams.

If you are in Class 12 in 2026-27: CBSE's Class 12 board exams usually start in mid-February (17 February in 2026; the 2027 date sheet is not out yet), and NEET 2027 is expected in May 2027 (NTA has not announced the date). NEET-UG also moves to computer-based testing from 2027, so plan to finish the Class 12 syllabus by December, keep NEET mocks going on screen through January, and switch fully to NEET after your last board paper.

The NCERT-First Approach

1. Read NCERT line by line — every diagram, table, and box matters for NEET
2. Solve NCERT exercises — these are board-level questions
3. Add NEET PYQs chapter-wise — bridges board-to-NEET gap
4. Practise MCQs daily — NEET is MCQ-based (180 compulsory questions in 3 hours in the current pattern); boards need descriptive answers

Subject-Wise Dual Strategy

Biology (Most Important for NEET)

• NCERT covers most of what NEET Biology asks — read it line by line
• For boards — practice long answers and diagrams
• High-yield — Genetics, Ecology, Human Physiology, Plant Physiology

Physics

• NCERT + HC Verma for concepts; boards need derivations; NEET needs numerical MCQs

Chemistry

• Organic name reactions serve both; for Inorganic, NCERT covers the boards and most of what NEET asks
