CISCE publishes an official specimen paper for every ICSE subject on cisce.org, along with recent question papers. Together they are the best practice material for the ICSE Class 10 exams in 2027. Solve them under timed conditions and mark them honestly.

How the Main Papers Are Set
Always check the current specimen paper for the exact layout. The points below are from recent ICSE specimen papers.
Science: three separate papers
Physics (Science Paper 1), Chemistry (Science Paper 2) and Biology (Science Paper 3) are each an 80-mark, two-hour paper, with 20 marks of internal assessment. The Physics paper, for example, has a compulsory Section A of short questions on the whole syllabus (40 marks) and a Section B in which you answer four of six questions (40 marks).
Must-practise diagrams for Biology: the heart, nephron, eye, neuron and the reproductive systems. Labelled diagrams carry a lot of marks.
Mathematics
An 80-mark paper with 20 marks of internal assessment. The first section is compulsory and covers the whole syllabus, and the second section gives you a choice of longer questions, so every chapter needs at least basic preparation.
History and Civics
An 80-mark, two-hour paper. Part I is compulsory short-answer questions on both History and Civics. In Part II you answer two of three Civics questions and three of five History questions.
Geography
A separate paper that includes interpretation of a Survey of India topographical map and map work on an outline map of India, followed by questions on the geography of India. Practise 4-figure and 6-figure grid references, conventional signs and calculating distance with the scale.
English
Paper 1 (Language): composition, letter writing, notice and e-mail writing, comprehension, and grammar. Paper 2 (Literature): for 2027, Shakespeare's Julius Caesar (Acts III to V) and the prescribed stories and poems in Treasure Chest, with extract-based and longer questions.

Where can I find official ICSE specimen papers?
On cisce.org. CISCE publishes a specimen question paper for each ICSE subject, and it has also released the question papers of recent main and improvement examinations. These are the most reliable guide to the pattern; publishers' sample papers are useful extra practice but are not official.
How many sample papers should I solve for ICSE?
Aim for about ten per major subject: the official specimen paper, the past few years' ICSE papers, and a few publisher papers for extra practice. Solve them under timed conditions and mark them honestly against the marking scheme.
Is the ICSE specimen paper the same pattern as the board exam?
The specimen paper shows the structure CISCE intends for that year's exam: sections, question types, choices and time allowed. The actual questions will be different, so use it to learn the format and practise across the whole syllabus.
When does CISCE release specimen papers?
CISCE posts specimen papers on cisce.org during the academic year before the exam. If the new ones aren't out yet, last year's specimen and question papers are still good practice, but check for syllabus changes: CISCE revised several subjects, including History and Civics, Geography and Chemistry, for 2027.
Are ICSE papers harder than CBSE?
They are set differently. ICSE examines Physics, Chemistry and Biology as separate papers and gives choice in the second section of many papers, while CBSE Class 10 papers carry 20 marks of MCQs and about 50% competency-based questions. Neither is easy without regular practice.
