Official Papers and Syllabus

The most useful practice is CISCE's own papers. CISCE publishes specimen question papers and the ISC syllabus on cisce.org; solve them, and past ISC papers, under timed conditions once you finish a chapter.

How to Use Chapter-Wise Questions

  1. Start with the chapters you find hardest — they need the most practice rounds.
  2. Solve without looking at answers first — then check, and note why you went wrong.
  3. Time yourself — practise at exam speed, not homework speed.
  4. Mark questions you got wrong — redo them 2–3 days before the exam.

How to Prepare ISC Class 12 English

  • Practise reading comprehension with a timer so you finish the section with time to spare.
  • Learn the formats for the writing tasks in your syllabus (letters, notices, articles and so on) and practise one a week.
  • Revise grammar topics through short daily exercises.
  • For literature, know each story, poem and play well: plot, characters, themes, and a few short lines to quote.

Exam-Day Tips

  • Read every question twice — and underline what it actually asks.
  • Attempt every question — board papers don't deduct marks for wrong answers.
  • Plan long answers before you write — a few points jotted in the margin keep the answer on track.
  • Stick to word limits — longer is not better; relevant is.
  • Keep the last 10–15 minutes to check — look for unanswered parts, spelling and grammar.

Turn this into exam marks

Super Tutor gives you chapter summaries, revision notes, practice quizzes and an AI doubt solver matched to your board syllabus — so you revise smarter, not longer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which chapters carry the most marks in ISC Class 12 English?

CISCE sets the marks for each unit in its syllabus or blueprint for the year. Check the latest one on cisce.org rather than trusting unofficial weightage lists, and don't skip chapters: questions can come from the whole syllabus.

For Literature in English, study the prescribed texts: Macbeth (Acts III to V), the Prism short stories and the Rhapsody poems set for Class 12. For English Language, practise composition, directed writing, proposal writing, grammar and comprehension.

If you have already finished the syllabus once, 30–45 days of steady revision (2–3 hours of English a day) is enough for most students. Keep the last week for past papers and your own notes.

No one can predict the exact paper. Important questions cover the ideas that are asked most often, so practise every chapter and solve the board's past papers as well.
