BITSAT-Specific Tips
- Speed is everything. BITSAT questions are easier but you have less time. Practise solving under time pressure.
- Do not skip English & LR. These 30 questions (90 marks) are relatively easy marks if you prepare for a couple of weeks. English grammar (tenses, articles, prepositions) + basic reasoning patterns.
- Aim for the extra questions — carefully. If you answer all 130 and still have time, you can opt for 12 extra questions. Once you opt in you can't go back to the first 130, and wrong answers still cost −1.
- NCERT is your base. BITSAT PCM questions are NCERT-level to slightly above. If you know NCERT thoroughly, you can score well — but also cover the BITSAT-only topics listed above.
- Take 10+ BITSAT mock tests. The pattern is different from JEE — you need to adapt to the speed requirement.

Is BITSAT easier than JEE Main?
BITSAT questions are individually easier than JEE Main, but the time pressure is much higher. BITSAT has 130 questions in 3 hours (about 1.4 min/question) vs JEE Main's 75 questions in 3 hours (about 2.4 min/question). BITSAT also has English Proficiency and Logical Reasoning. Speed matters more in BITSAT; depth matters more in JEE Main.
Can I prepare for both JEE Main and BITSAT together?
Yes — most of the PCM syllabus overlaps, so JEE Main preparation covers much of BITSAT. But BITSAT's syllabus is wider: it still includes topics JEE Main dropped in 2024, such as States of Matter, Surface Chemistry, s-Block, Polymers and Mathematical Reasoning, plus Linear Programming.
