Key Topics to Revise

1

1. NumPy and Arrays

  • NumPy stands for Numerical Python.
  • NumPy is a package for data analysis and scientific computing with Python.
  • NumPy can be installed using pip install NumPy.
2

2. Creating NumPy Arrays

  • A 1-D array has one row of elements.
  • A 2-D array can be created by passing nested lists to np.array().
  • array1 = np.array([10,20,30]) is an example of a 1-D array.
3

3. Indexing and Slicing

  • Array indexing is based on position and starts from 0.
  • This is called zero based indexing.
  • In a 2-D array, row-axis is axis-0 and column-axis is axis-1.
4

4. Operations on Arrays

  • Arithmetic operations on arrays are done element-wise when shapes are the same.
  • For element-wise operations, array1.shape must equal array2.shape.
  • Example arrays used for arithmetic are array1 = np.array([[3,6],[4,2]]) and array2 = np.array([[10,20],[15,12]]).
