The INSPIRE Scholarship for Higher Education (SHE) pays ₹80,000 a year for up to 5 years to students studying natural and basic sciences (B.Sc–M.Sc / integrated M.Sc). You qualify if you are in the top 1% of your Class 12 board, or ranked in the top 10,000 in JEE Advanced or NEET, or a KVPY/NTSE/Olympiad/IISER-NISER awardee. Who is eligible

  • Top 1% in your Class 12 board examination (in the science stream), OR
  • Top 10,000 rank in JEE Advanced or NEET, OR
  • Admission to IISER / NISER / DoS at IIT Kharagpur, or being a KVPY / NTSE / JBNSTS scholar or Science Olympiad medallist.

SHE funds basic and natural sciences only — B.Sc, B.S, M.Sc, M.S and integrated M.Sc programmes in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Statistics, Geology, Astrophysics, Electronics, Botany, Zoology and related disciplines. The aim is to pull top rankers into a research career in the sciences, which is why professional courses are excluded. If you are heading to an IISER or a top science programme, this pairs naturally with the low fees at institutes like the IITs.
