Mirror Symmetry (Line of Symmetry)
- A line of symmetry divides a shape into two equal halves that are mirror images of each other.
- When you fold a shape along its line of symmetry, one half fits exactly over the other half.
- The two halves created by the line of symmetry are called mirror halves.

Half a Turn (Rotational Symmetry of Order 2)
- A half turn means rotating a shape by 180 degrees around its centre point.
- Some shapes look exactly the same after a half turn — they have rotational symmetry of order 2.
- To check: trace the outline of the shape, place the shape on its tracing, and give it a half turn — if it fits, it has half-turn symmetry.

Quarter Turn (Rotational Symmetry of Order 4)
- A quarter turn means rotating a shape by 90 degrees (one-fourth of 360 degrees).
- A shape that looks the same after a quarter turn also looks the same after a half turn and a three-quarter turn.
- If a shape looks the same after a quarter turn, it has rotational symmetry of order 4.

One-Third Turn and One-Sixth Turn
- A one-third turn means rotating a shape by 120 degrees (one-third of 360 degrees).
- A shape that looks the same after a one-third turn has 3 equal, evenly-spaced identical parts.
- A 3-bladed fan looks the same after a one-third turn.
