Whole Numbers

Whole Numbers = Natural Numbers + Zero. So Whole Numbers are: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, …
The SUCCESSOR of any number is the number that comes just AFTER it. Successor = Number + 1.
The PREDECESSOR of any number is the number that comes just BEFORE it. Predecessor = Number – 1.
ADDITION: To add two numbers on the Number Line, start at the first number and jump the second number of steps to the RIGHT. Example: 3 + 4 = Start at 3, jump 4 steps right → reach 7.
SUBTRACTION: To subtract on the Number Line, start at the first number and jump the number of steps being subtracted to the LEFT. Example: 7 – 5 = Start at 7, jump 5 steps left → reach 2.
