- कुँवर उदय सिंह चित्तौड़ के स्वर्गीय महाराणा साँगा के सबसे छोटे पुत्र हैं और राज्य के उत्तराधिकारी हैं। उनकी आयु चौदह वर्ष है।
- पन्ना खीचो जाति की राजपूतानी धाय है। वह उदय सिंह का संरक्षण करती है। उसकी आयु तीस वर्ष है।
- सोना रावल सरूप सिंह की लड़की है। वह अत्यंत रूपवती, नटखट और उदय सिंह के साथ खेलनेवाली है। उसकी आयु सोलह वर्ष है।

- कथा की शुरुआत नृत्य-गान और दीप-दान के वातावरण से होती है।
- उदय सिंह सोना के नाच से आकर्षित होते हैं, पर पन्ना उन्हें रोकती है।
