- A business plan is a formal written document that describes the nature of the business, its objectives, market potential, operational structure and financial requirements.
- It acts as a roadmap from idea to implementation and growth.
- It is used to organise internal activities and attract investors, banks and other stakeholders.
2. Formats and Components of a Business Plan
- The Executive Summary appears first in the document but is usually drafted and finalised after completing all other sections.

- The Operational Plan ensures smooth and coordinated flow of work in the enterprise.
4. Financial Plan, Costing, Profit and Break-Even Analysis
- The Financial Plan shows financial requirements, sources of funds, projected income, expenses, profits, cash flows and break-even analysis.
- Finance is a pre-requisite for combining men, material, machines and methods.
- For the sample business, the total start-up cost is ₹12,00,000.
