Our Senses

Tongue

Our TONGUE helps us to taste food. We can taste sweet, sour, bitter, and salty things using our tongue. Nose helps us smell, ears help us hear, and eyes help us see — only the tongue helps us taste!

Skin

Our SKIN helps us to touch and feel things. We can feel if something is hot or cold, hard or soft, rough or smooth using our skin. Skin covers our whole body! Eyes help us see, nose helps us smell, and tongue helps us taste — only skin helps us touch and feel.

Because we need light to see things

We need LIGHT to see things. In a dark room, there is no light, so our eyes cannot see anything. When there is light — like from the sun, a candle, or a bulb — we can see things clearly. Eyes being closed is different from darkness, and the size of the room does not matter for seeing.

Sun

The SUN is a source of light — it gives us light during the day. Other sources of light include a lighted candle and a bulb. A stone, a book, and a leaf do not give out light by themselves, so they are NOT sources of light.
