  • A preposition connects nouns or pronouns to other words in a sentence.
  • It shows relationships like position, time, and direction.
  • Prepositions usually come before a noun or pronoun.
  • Prepositions of place show where something is.
  • 'In' means inside, 'on' means on top, 'under' means below.
  • 'Behind' means at the back, 'in front of' means at the front.
  • 'At' is used for specific times (at 6, at night).
  • 'On' is used for days and dates (on Friday, on 10th June).
  • 'In' is used for months, years, seasons, and parts of the day (in July, in 2023, in summer, in the evening).

Common Mistakes to Avoid

At, on, and in can be used interchangeably for time because they all talk about when something happens.

In and into mean the same thing and can be used interchangeably.

Under and below are the same and can be used in any situation.
