Formulas and Key Relations
Introduction and Standard Form
A quadratic equation is of the form ax² + bx + c = 0 where a, b, c are real numbers and a ≠ 0
Solution by Factorization Method
Use the zero product property
if AB = 0, then A = 0 or B = 0
Completing the Square Method
Transform ax² + bx + c = 0 into the form (x + p)² = q
Key relations
If α is a root, then aα² + bα + c = 0.
For ax² + bx + c = 0, roots are given by x = (-b ± √(b²-4ac))/2a.
