Left atrium

Step 1: The heart has four chambers - two atria (upper chambers) and two ventricles (lower chambers). Step 2: The left side of the heart deals with oxygenated blood, while the right side handles deoxygenated blood. Step 3: Oxygenated blood returns from the lungs through pulmonary veins. Step 4: This blood enters the left atrium first, which is the receiving chamber. Step 5: From the left atrium, blood moves to the left ventricle, which then pumps it to the body.

Nephron

Step 1: Each kidney contains millions of tiny filtering units called nephrons. Step 2: A nephron consists of a Bowman's capsule, glomerulus, and a long coiled tubule. Step 3: The nephron filters blood to remove waste products like urea while retaining useful substances. Step 4: Neurons are nerve cells, alveoli are air sacs in lungs, and villi are in the small intestine. Step 5: Understanding nephron structure helps explain how kidneys maintain proper water and waste balance in the body.

Transpiration

Step 1: Transpiration is the loss of water vapor from aerial parts of plants, mainly through stomata. Step 2: As water evaporates from leaves, it creates a suction force that pulls water up from roots. Step 3: This transpiration pull helps move water through xylem vessels from roots to leaves. Step 4: Translocation refers to movement of food materials through phloem. Step 5: This process is essential for transporting dissolved minerals and maintaining plant turgor pressure.

Arteries

Step 1: Arteries are blood vessels that carry blood away from the heart to various body organs. Step 2: They have thick, elastic walls to withstand high blood pressure from heart contractions. Step 3: Arteries branch into smaller arterioles and then into capillaries for exchange of materials. Step 4: Veins carry blood back to the heart and have thinner walls with valves. Step 5: Remember: 'A' for Arteries = Away from heart, while veins bring blood back to the heart.
