  • Sorting means arranging a collection of elements in a particular order.
  • Numbers can be sorted in ascending or descending order.
  • Strings can be sorted alphabetically or by length.

2. Bubble Sort

  • Bubble sort compares adjacent elements repeatedly and swaps them if they are unordered.
  • For a list with n elements, bubble sort makes n-1 passes.
  • After each pass, the largest element reaches its correct position at the end.

  • Selection sort divides the list into a sorted left part and an unsorted right part.
  • Initially, the left part is empty and the right part contains all elements.
  • In each pass, the smallest element in the unsorted part is found.

  • Each unsorted element is inserted into its correct position in the sorted part.
  • The sorted list is traversed backward to find the insertion position.
