  • A DBMS is software used to create and manage databases.
  • A DBMS acts as an interface between the database and end users or application programs.
  • A database system provides an abstract view of data by hiding storage and maintenance details.

  • In the school example, STUDENT and ATTENDANCE files are related through common field names.
  • RollNumber links ATTENDANCE to STUDENT.
  • SName need not be maintained in ATTENDANCE because it already exists in STUDENT.
