Punjab Board Class 10 Mathematics — Formula Sheet

Punjab Board Class 10 Mathematics formula sheet, chapter by chapter — 24 formulas across 4 chapters. Follows the PSEB syllabus.

How to Use the Formula Sheet

  1. Write, don't just read — writing each formula out helps it stick.
  2. Understand the derivation — you can rebuild a formula you half-remember.
  3. Group related formulas — link the ones that build on each other.
  4. Test yourself — cover the sheet and write the formulas from memory.

Real Numbers

3 entries
Any composite number x can be written as x = p1 × p2 × ... × pn, where p1 ≤ p2 ≤ ... ≤ pn are primes written in ascending order.
Examples of irrational numbers: √2, √3, √5, √15, π, 0.10110111011110...
For any two positive integers a and b, the relationship HCF(a, b) × LCM(a, b) = a × b always holds true.

Polynomials

11 entries
Degree 1 → Linear Polynomial (e.g., 2x + 3)
The graph of y = ax + b (linear) is a STRAIGHT LINE that intersects the x-axis at exactly ONE point — (–b/a, 0). So a linear polynomial has exactly 1 zero.
The graph of y = ax² + bx + c (quadratic) is a PARABOLA. It opens upward if a > 0, downward if a < 0.
For a QUADRATIC polynomial p(x) = ax² + bx + c with zeroes α (alpha) and β (beta):
Product of zeroes: αβ = c/a = (constant term) / (coefficient of x²)

The general form of a linear equation in two variables is: a₁x + b₁y + c₁ = 0, where a₁, b₁, and c₁ are real numbers and a₁ ≠ 0, b₁ ≠ 0.
CONDITION 2 — Infinitely Many Solutions (Coincident Lines, Consistent/Dependent): a₁/a₂ = b₁/b₂ = c₁/c₂
An equation of the form ax + by + c = 0, where a, b, and c are real numbers with a ≠ 0 and b ≠ 0.
Two linear equations considered together, written as: a₁x + b₁y + c₁ = 0 and a₂x + b₂y + c₂ = 0.
