Frequently Asked Questions

How to convert percentage to CGPA for CBSE?

Divide your percentage by 9.5. For example, 85% is 85 ÷ 9.5 = 8.95 CGPA. This reverses the × 9.5 conversion CBSE used when it gave Class 10 results as CGPA.

The usual formula is CGPA = Percentage ÷ 9.5, for a 10-point scale. Some universities publish their own conversion — if yours does, use it. For a rough 4-point GPA, use GPA = Percentage ÷ 25.

90% equals a CGPA of approximately 9.47 (90 ÷ 9.5 = 9.47). On a 4-point GPA scale, 90% equals 3.6 GPA.

75% equals a CGPA of approximately 7.89 (75 ÷ 9.5 = 7.89). On a 4-point GPA scale, 75% equals 3.0 GPA.

No. CBSE's current marksheets show marks and positional grades for each subject, with no CGPA and no overall percentage. The ÷ 9.5 conversion is still handy when a form asks for a CGPA or to compare with an older CGPA marksheet.
