How to download the JEE Main admit card from jeemain.nta.nic.in, what to check on it, what to carry and leave at home, and exam-day reporting times.

The JEE Main admit card is released on jeemain.nta.nic.in 3–4 days before your exam. Download it using your Application Number + Date of Birth, take 2 colour printouts, and carry one original photo ID on exam day. For JEE Main 2027, Session 1 is tentatively on 22–24 and 28–30 January 2027 — see our JEE Main 2027 dates page for the full timeline.

  2. Click "Download Admit Card" on the homepage
  3. Enter your Application Number and Date of Birth (or password)
  4. Complete the security captcha

What to Carry — Exam Day Checklist

Must Carry

Based on NTA's JEE Main 2026 bulletin (check your 2027 admit card for the final list):

  • Admit card — a clear A4 printout, with the self-declaration (undertaking) filled in
  • Original valid photo ID — school ID, PAN, voter ID, passport, Aadhaar or e-Aadhaar with photo, Class 12 board admit card with photo, or bank passbook with photo
  • One passport-size photograph — the same as uploaded in your form, for the attendance sheet
  • PwD/PwBD certificate — original (if you are claiming relaxation)
  • A simple transparent ballpoint pen

Do NOT Carry

  • Mobile phone — leave it at home or in your vehicle. Carrying a phone into the exam hall is treated as unfair means.
  • Smart watch, fitness band or any electronic watch
  • Calculator of any kind — calculators in any form, including on-screen ones, are not allowed in JEE Main
  • Earphones, Bluetooth devices or any other gadget
  • Handbag, purse, geometry or pencil box, metallic items
  • Books, notes, any paper or stationery — rough sheets are provided at the centre
  • Food or water — NTA's 2026 rules did not allow eatables or water (loose or packed) into the centre

Exam Centre Tips

  1. Visit the centre a day before. Know the exact building and how long the journey takes. Check parking availability.
  2. Reach early. Plan to arrive when entry opens. You will go through frisking, biometric registration, document checks and seat allotment.
  3. Biometric registration. Your details are recorded at the centre and matched against your registration data.
  4. Rough sheets. You will receive rough sheets for calculations. Write your name and application number on each one. You must hand ALL rough sheets back before leaving.
  5. Computer-based test. JEE Main Paper 1 is a CBT. You will see all 75 questions — 20 MCQs and 5 numerical questions in each of Physics, Chemistry and Maths, all compulsory — and can move between questions, mark for review and change answers anytime during the 3 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will the JEE Main admit card be released?

NTA releases JEE Main admit cards 3–4 days before each exam date, after the city intimation slip. In 2026 they came out on 17 January for the 21–24 January papers, and on 29 March and 1 April for the April papers. JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is tentatively on 22–24 and 28–30 January 2027 (NTA exam calendar), so expect the first admit cards around 18–19 January 2027. Check jeemain.nta.nic.in from about 5 days before your exam.

Steps: (1) Visit jeemain.nta.nic.in, (2) Click 'Download Admit Card', (3) Log in with your Application Number and Date of Birth (or Password), (4) The admit card PDF will open, (5) Download it and take 2 colour printouts. If the website is slow (common on release day), try again late at night or early in the morning.

If the photo, signature or any detail on your admit card doesn't match your confirmation page, contact the NTA helpline (011-40759000, 10 am–5 pm) or email jeemain@nta.ac.in straight away with your application number. NTA's bulletin says you should still appear in the exam with the admit card you downloaded, and NTA will correct its records later.

No. The printed admit card is mandatory for entry, and NTA does not issue duplicate admit cards at exam centres. Always carry printed copies. If you lose it on exam day, download it on your phone and get a printout from a nearby shop before the gate closes.

Carry ONE original, valid photo ID. The 2026 bulletin accepted: school identity card, PAN card, voter ID, passport, Aadhaar card (with photograph), e-Aadhaar with photograph, Class 12 board admit card with photograph, or bank passbook with photograph. Photocopies are not accepted. Check the list printed on your admit card.

Contact the NTA helpline (011-40759000) or jeemain@nta.ac.in as soon as you spot it, and keep a record of your emails. Per NTA's bulletin, still appear in the exam with the admit card you downloaded — you cannot change your exam city, date or shift, and NTA corrects the record later.
