Is MHT-CET easier than JEE Main?
Most students find it more manageable — no negative marking, a state-board syllabus and single-correct MCQs. But the CET Cell says Physics, Chemistry and Maths questions are set at JEE Main level and are mainly application-based, and you get well under a minute per Physics or Chemistry question, so speed is the real test. About 80% of the questions come from Class 12.
Which class has more weightage in MHT-CET?
Class 12 carries about 80% weightage and Class 11 about 20% — and only a listed set of Class 11 chapters is tested. Focus heavily on Class 12 topics.
Can I get a good college through MHT-CET?
Yes. COEP Technological University Pune, VJTI Mumbai, ICT Mumbai and Walchand College Sangli all fill seats through the State CET Cell's CAP. Competition for popular branches is intense — computer engineering at COEP and VJTI has closed above the 99th percentile for General Open candidates in recent rounds (2025, reported) — while other branches and colleges close lower.
How many times can I take MHT-CET?
Since 2026 MHT-CET is held twice a year, and if you sit both attempts your better total percentile is used for CAP. For 2027 the CET Commissioner has said the first attempt is likely between mid-December 2026 and mid-January 2027, with the second around April 2027 — not yet officially notified.
