Must Carry

  • Printed NEET admit card — with your passport-size photograph pasted on it
  • One passport-size photograph — the same as in your application, for the attendance sheet
  • One postcard-size (4"×6") colour photograph — white background, pasted on the proforma
  • Valid original photo ID — PAN card, driving licence, voter ID, passport, Aadhaar card, DigiLocker or APAAR ID
  • PwBD certificate (if claiming PwBD relaxation)

Do NOT Carry

  • Pen, pencil, eraser, geometry box or pouch — the pen is given at the centre
  • Mobile phone, earphones, Bluetooth devices, health band
  • Any watch or wristwatch
  • Calculator or log table
  • Wallet, goggles, handbag, belt, cap, ornaments or metallic items
  • Books, notes, printed material
  • Water bottle or any food — diabetic candidates may carry sugar tablets, fruit and a transparent water bottle with prior intimation

OMR Sheet — How to Fill Correctly (Pen-and-Paper Exam)

Up to 2026, NEET used OMR (Optical Mark Recognition) sheets scanned by machines. Incorrect filling = lost marks. If NEET 2027 is computer-based as announced, you will answer on screen instead.

DoDon't
Use only the ballpoint pen given at the centreDon't bring your own pen or pencil — they are barred
Fill the bubble completely and darklyDon't make light or partial marks
Mark answers on the test booklet first if you need to, then transfer to the OMRDon't rush to fill the OMR without double-checking
Fill personal details (name, roll number) carefullyDon't leave personal details blank or overwrite them
Keep the OMR sheet clean and unfoldedDon't fold, crumple, or make stray marks on the OMR
Transfer answers in batches as you goDon't leave all the transferring to the last few minutes

Critical tip: Transfer answers to the OMR sheet in batches — for example after every subject — rather than all at the end. It avoids the panic of running out of time with 180 answers still to bubble.

Exam Centre Preparation Tips

  1. Visit the centre a day before. Locate the exact building and entry gate. NTA itself suggests this.
  2. Plan your travel. Account for traffic and frisking queues — entry opens at 11:00 AM and closes at 1:30 PM. If you wear customary or religious dress, report by 12:30 PM so there is time for frisking.
  3. Eat a light lunch before leaving. The exam runs 2:00–5:00 PM and no food is allowed inside.
  4. Follow the dress code. Light clothes; heavy clothes and long sleeves are not preferred. Slippers or low-heeled sandals are preferable.
  5. Use the washroom before entering. Candidates may not leave their seat until the test ends.

Information based on NTA's NEET (UG) 2026 information bulletin; 2026 admit card dates are as reported. NEET-UG moves to computer-based testing from 2027, so timing, mode and centre rules may change — always read the instructions on your admit card and the current information bulletin. For issues, contact the NTA helpline: 011-40759000, or the email given in the bulletin (2026: neetug2026@nta.ac.in).

Frequently Asked Questions

When is the NEET admit card released?

About a week before the exam. In 2026, admit cards came out on 26 April for the 3 May exam, and on 14 June for the 21 June re-exam, with the city intimation slip on 7 June (reported). NEET 2027 is expected in May 2027 (not yet announced), so expect the admit card roughly a week before. NTA sends updates to your registered email and mobile — also check neet.nta.nic.in regularly.

Steps: (1) Visit neet.nta.nic.in, (2) Click the admit card link, (3) Log in with your application number and password (or date of birth, as the login page asks), (4) Download the admit card along with the proforma, (5) Print it and paste your passport-size photograph on it. Keep the admit card safe after the exam — NTA advises preserving it, and you will need it again at counselling.

Up to 2026, NEET-UG was a pen-and-paper exam: a test booklet plus an OMR answer sheet. The Centre has announced that NEET-UG moves to computer-based testing (CBT) from 2027; NTA's 2027 information bulletin will give the shift and normalisation details. Practise full-length timed mocks on screen.

In 2026 you could not bring your own pen — pens were on NTA's barred-items list, and a ballpoint pen was given out at the centre. Mark each bubble fully and darkly with that pen. If NEET 2027 is computer-based as announced, there will be no OMR sheet.

No. Once you darken a bubble on the OMR sheet, it cannot be changed, and erasing or overwriting is not allowed. Mark your answer on the test booklet first if you need to think, and double-check before darkening each bubble on the OMR.

NTA allots centres by computer, based on your city choices and availability. In 2026 you chose three cities, and choices were limited to the state of your permanent or present address. If your allotted centre is in another city: (1) you cannot request a change at this stage, (2) plan travel and accommodation well in advance, (3) visit the centre a day before to confirm the location, (4) stay close to the centre if you can.
