Computer Networks and Types of Networks
- A network is a group of two or more similar things or people interconnected with each other.
- A computer network is an interconnection among two or more computers or computing devices.
- A network allows sharing of data and resources among connected devices.
Network Devices
- Networking devices such as modem, hub, switch, repeater, router, and gateway are used to connect devices and manage communication.
- Modem stands for MOdulator DEMolulator.
- A modem converts digital data into analog signals at the sender end and analog signals into digital data at the receiver end.
Networking Topologies
- The arrangement of computers and peripherals in a network is called topology.
- Common network topologies are mesh, ring, bus, star, and tree or hybrid.
