  • उसी समय एक हंस तीर लगने से घायल होकर सिद्धार्थ की गोद में आ गिरता है।

  • सिद्धार्थ कहते हैं: "बचाने वाला मारने वाले से बड़ा होता है।"
  • सिद्धार्थ कहते हैं: "वीर अपना आखेट नहीं छोड़ सकता परंतु वीर शरणागत को भी नहीं छोड़ सकता। हंस मेरी शरण में आ चुका है। मैं उसे नहीं लौटाऊँगा।"
  • सिद्धार्थ कहते हैं: "पहले मारा था, तभी तो वह मेरी शरण में आया है। बिना मारे वह मेरी शरण में कैसे आता?"
