NDA key facts

  • Two papers of 2½ hours each: Mathematics (300 marks) and the General Ability Test (600 marks — English 200, General Knowledge 400).
  • Negative marking: Mathematics +2.5 / −0.83 and GAT +4 / −1.33 per question.
  • Written qualifiers face a 900-mark SSB interview; the final merit list is out of 1,800.
  • Unmarried candidates aged about 16½ to 19½ can apply, and women are eligible. The Air Force and Navy wings need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
  • UPSC allows no changes to the application after you submit it — check every field first.

    Map the syllabus

    Print the full syllabus and rate yourself 1–5 on every chapter before you start.

    Build a 6-month plan

    Front-load Class 11 chapters in months 1–3 and Class 12 in months 4–6. Reserve the last month for revision.

    Finish NCERT cover-to-cover before jumping to advanced books or coaching modules.
