Indian Navy Salary 2026 — Agniveer (SSR/MR), Rank-wise Pay & In-hand

Indian Navy salary follows the 7th CPC defence pay matrix. Sailors enter now as Agniveer (SSR/MR) on a ₹30,000–₹40,000/month package with a Seva Nidhi corpus of about ₹10–11 lakh. A commissioned Sub Lieutenant starts at Level 10 (₹56,100 basic) plus MSP ₹15,500.

Navy Agniveer (SSR / MR) package

Sailor entry — including the old SSR (Senior Secondary Recruit) and MR (Matric Recruit) categories — is now through the Agnipath scheme as Agniveer (SSR) and Agniveer (MR). The package matches the tri-service Agniveer scheme: ₹30,000 a month in year 1 rising to ₹40,000 by year 4, about 30% going into the Seva Nidhi corpus.

Entry (first-stage) basic pay of the defence pay matrix; Navy ranks map to the same pay levels as the equivalent Army ranks. MSP ₹15,500 for officers up to Commodore; ₹5,200 for sailors. In-hand adds DA (60%), MSP and allowances (sea-going, HRA, etc.).

Sea-going and other allowances

Navy personnel draw DA (60% of basic) plus service allowances such as Sea Going Allowance, Submarine Allowance, Diving Allowance and HRA, which vary with role and posting. These lift in-hand well above the basic-plus-MSP figure for personnel on active sea duty. Officer entry is largely via the NDA and other cadet routes — see the NDA exam hub.
