Key Topics to Revise

1

Comparing Numbers

  • A number with MORE digits is ALWAYS greater than a number with fewer digits.
  • If two numbers have the SAME number of digits, compare the leftmost (highest place value) digit first.
  • If the leftmost digits are equal, move to the next digit and compare again.
2

Forming Greatest and Smallest Numbers from Given Digits

  • To form the GREATEST number: arrange the given digits in DESCENDING order (largest digit first).
  • To form the SMALLEST number: arrange the given digits in ASCENDING order (smallest digit first).
  • IMPORTANT RULE: If 0 is one of the digits, it CANNOT be placed at the leftmost position (as that would reduce the number of digits).
