Measuring Line Segments
- A line segment is a part of a line with two definite end points.
- The length of a line segment is the distance between its two end points.
- Comparing line segments by mere observation (just looking) is not reliable — two segments may look equal but have different lengths.

Angles – Right Angle and Straight Angle
- When a clock's hand or any ray rotates, it forms an angle.
- One complete turn is called 1 revolution (= 360°).
- A right angle = 1/4 revolution = 90°.

Types of Angles – Acute, Obtuse and Reflex
- Angles are classified based on their measure in degrees.
- Acute angle: Greater than 0° but LESS than 90° (less than a right angle).
- Right angle: Exactly 90° (= 1/4 revolution).

Perpendicular Lines
- Two lines are perpendicular if they meet at a right angle (90°).
- We write AB ⊥ CD to show AB is perpendicular to CD.
- The perpendicular bisector of a line segment is a perpendicular line that passes through the midpoint of the segment.
