Key Topics to Revise
Equal and Not Equal
- When two groups have the same number of things, they are equal (=).
- When two groups have different numbers of things, they are not equal (≠).
- We use the symbol '=' for equal and '≠' for not equal.
Greater Than and Less Than
- The symbol '>' means 'greater than'. Example: 7 > 5.
- The symbol '<' means 'less than'. Example: 3 < 6.
- The open (broad) side of the sign faces the bigger number.
Before, After, and Between
- The number that comes just before is one less.
- The number that comes just after is one more.
- Numbers between two numbers are those that lie in the middle when counting.
Ascending and Descending Order
- Ascending order means arranging numbers from smallest to greatest.
- Descending order means arranging numbers from greatest to smallest.
- Always compare numbers step by step to arrange them correctly.
