Step 3: It must END with a full stop (.) because this sentence is saying something, not asking. Step 4: 'nidhi bought a new dress.' starts with a small letter – wrong! Step 5: 'Nidhi bought a new dress' has no full stop at the end – wrong! 'Nidhi bought a new dress.' follows both rules correctly.

Complete sense
Step 1: We learned the main rule: A sentence is a group of words that makes complete sense. Step 2: A sentence does not have to rhyme – poems rhyme, but not all sentences do. Step 3: A list of words by itself is not a sentence unless the words are in the right order and make sense. Step 4: A paragraph is made up of many sentences together. Step 5: The most important thing about a sentence is that it makes COMPLETE SENSE – the reader understands the full meaning.
Which sentence ends correctly?
Show answer
Can you speak French?
Step 1: This sentence is asking something – it is a question. Step 2: Questions must end with a question mark (?), not a full stop (.). Step 3: 'Can you speak French.' ends with a full stop – this is wrong for a question. Step 4: 'can you speak French?' starts with a small letter 'c' – wrong! All sentences must begin with a capital letter. Step 5: 'Can you speak French?' starts with a capital 'C' and ends with a question mark – both rules are followed correctly!
Which group of words is a sentence?
Show answer
These are interesting stories.
Step 1: Check each option to see if it makes complete sense. Step 2: 'interesting stories' – just two words, no action. It does not make complete sense. Step 3: 'interesting are stories these' – the words are in the wrong order and confusing. Step 4: 'stories interesting these are' – again, the words are in a jumbled order. Step 5: 'These are interesting stories.' – the words are in the right order, it makes complete sense, starts with a capital letter, and ends with a full stop. This is a proper sentence!
