Sound is a form of energy that produces the sensation of hearing in our ears.

A tuning fork is a U-shaped metallic piece with a stem in the middle. Its arms are called prongs. When struck on a rubber pad, the prongs vibrate and produce sound.

When a tuning fork is struck and brought near a suspended table tennis ball, the ball jumps to and fro on touching the prong. This shows that the prongs are vibrating.

The larynx, also called the voice box, produces human sound. Air from the lungs passes through the vocal cords, and the cords vibrate to produce sound.
