Card 3Units of Heat

What is the SI unit of heat? Name the other common units.

Answer

The SI unit of heat is joule (J). The other common units are calorie (cal) and kilocalorie (kcal).

Card 4Units of Heat

How many calories are in 1 kilocalorie?

Answer

Formula: 1 kcal = 1000 cal. This means 1 kilocalorie is equal to 1000 calories.

Card 5Units of Heat

Convert 5 kcal into cal.

Answer

Given: 5 kcal Find: calories Formula: 1 kcal = 1000 cal Solution: 5 kcal = 5 × 1000 cal = 5000 cal Answer: 5000 cal

Card 6Units of Heat

How many joules are equal to 1 calorie?

Answer

Formula: 1 cal = 4.2 J (nearly). Also, 1 J = 0.24 cal. This is used to change heat units between calorie and joule.

Card 7Units of Heat

Convert 10 cal into joules.

Answer

Given: 10 cal Find: joules Formula: 1 cal = 4.2 J Solution: 10 cal = 10 × 4.2 J = 42 J Answer: 42 J

Card 8Temperature Scales

State the SI unit of temperature.

Answer
