  • Variation means linked change in two quantities.
  • Direct variation means both quantities move in the same direction.

If one quantity increases and the other also increases, the relationship is always direct variation.

If one quantity increases and the other decreases, the relationship is always inverse variation.

In direct variation, one pair of equal ratios is enough to prove the whole table is direct variation.
