  • Alfred Marshall published Principles of Economics in 1890.
  • Marshall defined Economics as a study of mankind in the ordinary business of life.

  • Lionel Robbins published his book in 1932.
  • He defined Economics as a science which studies human behaviour as a relationship between ends and scarce means which have alternative uses.
  • Robbins said Economics is concerned neither with material means nor with welfare.
