प्रथम अंश: कर्म और परिश्रम

  • ‘बैठे हुए हो व्यर्थ क्यों? आगे बढ़ो, ऊँचे चढ़ो!’ में आलस्य छोड़कर प्रगति करने की प्रेरणा है।
  • ‘है भाग्य की क्या भावना, अब पाठ पौरुष का पढ़ो!’ में भाग्य पर निर्भर न रहकर कर्म करने की बात है।
  • ‘है सामने का ग्रास भी मुख में स्वयं जाता नहीं’ से स्पष्ट है कि बिना प्रयास कुछ नहीं मिलता।
