Common Mistakes to Avoid

The coordinates of a point are written as (y, x) — ordinate first, then abscissa.

The x-coordinate is the distance from the x-axis, and the y-coordinate is the distance from the y-axis.

A point on the x-axis has coordinates (0, x), i.e., the first coordinate is 0.
