  3. Verify mobile with OTP
  4. Create login credentials — application ID and password
  5. Login and complete profile — address, bank details, education details
  6. Search and select scheme — filter by your category and education level
  7. Upload documents — all in PDF/JPEG format, under 200KB each
  8. Submit application
  9. Get institution verification — your school/college must verify your application

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Name mismatch — name must match exactly across Aadhaar, bank account, and marksheet
  • Wrong bank account — account must be in student’s name (not parent’s)
  • Missing institution verification — follow up with your school/college
  • Late submission — portals close strictly on deadline. Apply early.
  • Incorrect income certificate — must be recent (within 1 year) and from authorised authority

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the National Scholarship Portal?

NSP (scholarships.gov.in) is the single-window platform for all central and many state government scholarships. Over 50 schemes are available through this portal.

Aadhaar card, bank passbook (in student name), income certificate, caste/community certificate, previous year marksheet, institution verification, and passport-size photo.

You can apply for multiple schemes but can receive only one scholarship at a time. The portal automatically prevents duplicate disbursements.
