1. Encoding Schemes
- A computer understands only binary digits 0 and 1.
- When a key is pressed on the keyboard, it is internally mapped to a unique code and then converted to binary.
- Encoding is the mechanism of converting data into an equivalent cipher using a specific code.
2. ASCII, ISCII, and Unicode Examples
- ASCII value of A is decimal 65 and 7-bit binary 1000001.
- ASCII value of D is decimal 68 and 7-bit binary 1000100.
- ASCII value of T is decimal 84 and 7-bit binary 1010100.
3. Number Systems and Positional Value
- A number system is a method to represent numbers.
- The count of unique literals in a number system is called its radix or base.
- Number systems are positional number systems because the value of each digit depends on its position.
