1. Flow of Control and Sequence Execution

  • The order of execution of statements in a program is called flow of control.
  • Sequence execution means statements run one after another from beginning to end.
  • Control structures are used to change the normal sequential flow.

2. Selection Statements

  • Decision making or selection in programming is implemented using the if..else statement.
  • The if statement executes a block only when the condition is true.
  • There is no limit on the number of statements in the block under if.

3. Indentation in Python

  • Python uses indentation instead of curly brackets for blocks and nested blocks.
  • Leading whitespace at the beginning of a statement is called indentation.
  • Statements with the same indentation level belong to the same block.

4. Repetition and Loops

  • Repetition of statements is also called iteration.
  • Looping constructs make repetition possible in programs.
  • The condition in a loop is checked based on the value of the loop's control variable.
