2(i)Very hot and dry and very cold and wet regions of India have low density of population. In this light, explain the role of climate on the distribution of population.Show solution

Climate strongly affects population distribution. Regions that are very hot and dry or very cold and wet are less favourable for human settlement because living conditions are difficult and agriculture is limited. On the other hand, areas with a more moderate climate, along with good terrain and water availability, attract more people. That is why the North Indian Plains, deltas and Coastal Plains have higher population density, while harsh climatic regions have low density.
