1. Shapes Around Us
- Amma's rangoli has shapes that can be counted separately.
- Some shapes in a rangoli are made with curved lines and some are made with straight lines.
- A cardboard box, when opened flat, shows the shapes of its faces.
2. Cuboid and Its Faces
- Faces of a cuboid can be traced to find their shapes.
- Cardboard boxes opened flat show the shapes making up their faces.
- A cuboid can have square or rectangular faces.
3. Rectangles and Squares
- A rectangle can be built using sticks of given side lengths.
- A square can be checked by using matchsticks on all its sides.
- Both squares and rectangles have 4 sides and 4 corners.
4. Square Corners and Matchsticks
- Two paper strips joined together can show a square corner, a more than a square corner, and a less than a square corner.
- Two matchsticks can be used to make one square corner.
- Two matchsticks can also be arranged to make two or four square corners.
