Card 1Magnetic Materials

What are magnetic materials?

Answer

Materials attracted towards a magnet are called magnetic materials. Iron is magnetic, and nickel and cobalt are also magnetic. These materials stick to a magnet.

Card 2

Answer

Card 3Non-Magnetic Materials

What are non-magnetic materials?

Answer

Materials not attracted towards a magnet are called non-magnetic materials. Wood, cardboard, plastic, and glass are non-magnetic materials.

Card 4

Card 5Poles of a Magnet

Why do iron filings stick more near the ends of a bar magnet?

Answer

Maximum iron filings stick near the ends of a bar magnet because the poles are at the ends. The poles are the North pole and the South pole.

Card 6

Answer

Card 7Poles of a Magnet

Can a magnet have only one pole?

Answer

No. A single North pole or South pole cannot exist. If a magnet is broken into pieces, each piece still has both poles.

Card 8
