According to Robert Merton, social structure is an aggregation of status, role, and norms. These are social elements, not physical or material elements.

Status and role are two sides of a coin. Role is the behavioral aspect of status - it refers to the expected behavior and duties associated with a particular social position (status).

Teachers

In a school system, teachers form a sub-group along with students, administrative personnel, and peons. Village, government, and market are not part of the school system structure.
