1. Sequence, Progression, and Series

  • A sequence is an ordered list of numbers.
  • A sequence of real numbers is a function whose domain is a subset of natural numbers and whose range is a subset of real numbers.
  • The numbers in a sequence are called terms.

2. Fibonacci Sequence and Recursive Relation

  • A recursive relation is a relation in which the nth term depends on previous term(s).
  • The Fibonacci sequence starts with 1, 1 and then each term is the sum of the previous two terms.
  • The Fibonacci sequence is named after Leonard Fibonacci.

3. Arithmetic Progression and Arithmetic Mean

  • An arithmetic progression is a progression in which the difference between consecutive terms is constant.
  • That constant is called the common difference.
  • If a, b, c are in A.P., then a + c = 2b.

4. Geometric Progression and Geometric Mean

  • A geometric progression is a progression in which the ratio of consecutive terms is constant.
  • That constant is called the common ratio.
  • If a, b, c are in G.P., then ac = b^2.
