  • Water-sharing is a major issue in their relations.
  • The Teesta River originates in Sikkim, flows through West Bengal, and enters Bangladesh.

  • China took control of Tibet in 1950.
  • India and China signed the Panchsheel Agreement in 1954.
  • Jawaharlal Nehru and Zhou Enlai signed it based on five principles of peaceful coexistence.
