Fundamental Rights
- Fundamental Rights are basic freedoms given to every Indian citizen by the Constitution.
- There are six Fundamental Rights.
- These rights protect citizens and help them grow safely and fairly.
The Six Fundamental Rights
- 1. Right to Equality – Everyone is equal before the law, no discrimination based on religion, caste, gender, or birthplace.
- 2. Right to Freedom – Includes freedom of speech, expression, movement, and profession.
- 3. Right against Exploitation – No child labour under 14, no forced labour, no human trafficking.
Fundamental Duties
- Fundamental Duties are responsibilities of every citizen towards the country.
- They were added to the Constitution in 1976.
- There are 11 Fundamental Duties, but only a few are taught in Class 5.
Directive Principles of State Policy
- These are guidelines for the government to make good laws and policies.
- They are not enforceable by law, but very important for public welfare.
- Examples: equal pay for equal work, free education, protecting monuments, improving health.
