The order of execution of the statements in a program is called flow of control. It can be sequential, selective, or iterative.

Statements executed one after the other

Statements executed one after the other without any jump are sequential statements.

Statements executed depending upon a condition

Statements executed depending upon a condition are selective statements. They are also called conditional or decision-making statements.

An if statement consists of

An if statement consists of a boolean expression followed by one or more statements. If the condition is true, the indented block runs.

An if statement can be followed

An if statement can be followed by an optional else statement, which runs when the boolean expression is false.
