What to Focus On
- Linear programming problem is a special type of optimisation problem.
- Objective function is a linear function of the form Z = ax + by.
- Constraints are linear inequalities or equations.
- x = number of tables, y = number of chairs.
- Investment constraint: 2500x + 500y ≤ 50000.
- Simplified investment constraint: 5x + y ≤ 100.
- Feasible region consists of points satisfying all constraints.
- Infeasible region is the region other than the feasible region.
- A corner point is the intersection of two boundary lines.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
The corner point with the smallest or largest objective value is always the minimum or maximum, even when the feasible region is unbounded.
If two corner points give the same optimal value, only those two points are optimal solutions.
Any point that satisfies one or two constraints is a feasible solution.
